The cycles project

by Finn Arild Aasheim last modified 2008-04-08 22:10

About the piece

Cycles is a classical piece I have been working on for a while - the whole idea of the project was to describe, in music, the cycle of water - from the little stream up in the mountain, via the rapids to the silent flowing big river as it finally ends in the sea and is condensed into clouds and rain again.

Recording it

I plan to do this as an online project, gathering people all over the world who play the different instruments and upload them to me - after which I will mix it together here in Oslo. I will rely on home studios all over the world for recording, so if you own any equipment that can record 24 bit 44.1khz and have a reasonable decent microphone - drop me a note.

Releasing it

The finished piece will be made available for free on the Internet under a Creative Commons license. The piece is also planned to be featured on my next album as a part of it's concept. Recording rights (so-called mechanical rights) and payment from sales will then be handled by NCB/Biem.

Please review the score and the music - and if you play any of the instruments - or know someone who does: contact me.
